How do I register for the weekend course?
Registering for the Weekend Course is a two step process. The first (1) step is to visit the "schedule of events" page on our website and choose the course you are interested in. Select the date and complete the online form.  Another way to register is to visit www.weekendprogram.org and choose the link on the home page. The second (2) step is to pay with check debit/credit card using PayPal.  The payment must be completed after filling out the online form.

After I register online, when do I have to pay?
The payment should be completed immediately after you fill out the registration form. Your registration is not complete until the payment has been processed. To qualify for the early and on time registration fees you must register and pay within the time frame.

What is the registration fee?
The registration fee for the Sojourner Douglass College Weekend Course is dependent upon the date of registration. 
One Weekend Course
Early registration is $298.80 Maryland and $304.80 Illinois (If you register more than 60 days prior to the first day of the weekend course)
On time registration is $314.80 Maryland and $320 Illinois (If you register between 59 days and 21 days prior to the first day of the weekend course)
Late registration is $345 Maryland and $350 Illinois (If you register 20 days or less prior to the first day of the weekend course)
The TOEFL Review Course is separate from the Weekend Course.
TOEFL registration is $392.80 (If you register 30 days or more prior to the first day the review courses).
Late registration for the TOEFL Review Course is $417.50 (If you register 29 days or less prior to the start of the course start date.  Registration will close 14 days prior to the start of the course review course.

 

CPR and First Aid registration is $99. 
Water Safety registrationis $61.80 ($80 for late registration)

Two Weekend Certificate Program
Early registration $586.20 (If you register more than 60 days prior to the first day of the first weekend)
On time Registration $598.20 (If you register between 59 days and 21 days prior to the first day of the first weekend)
Late registration $628.85 (If you register 20 days or less prior to the first day of the first weekend)

Do you accept checks? 
We do not accept checks.  All payments must be made using PayPal.  PayPal can be used if you have an existing PayPal account or if do not currently have a PayPal account.

How do I pay with credit or debit card what do I do?
The name on the billing information must match the name on the credit/debit card.
 

What time can I check in?
TOEFL Review-Check- in is 5:00 pm on Friday evening. If you plan to arrive prior to Friday  you must reserve a room and make payment arrangements directly with the hotel. You will be offered a special hotel rate for that evening. Early arrivals are not included in the  TOEFL Review course fee.
Weekend Course- Check- in starts at 7:30 am on Saturday morning.  If you plan to arrive prior to Saturday you must reserve a room and make payment arrangements directly with the hotel.  You will be offered a special hotel rate for that evening. Early arrivals are not included in the  Weekend registration fee. 
CPR and First Aid along with Water Safety classes- Check- in is at 9am on Saturday morning.

What is the Refund and Transfers Policy?

1. There is a $25 fee to transfer a paid registration from one weekend class to another.
2. There is a fee of $25 to cancel a paid registration one month prior to the registered weekend.
3. There is a $75 fee to cancel a registration 10 to 21 days prior to the registered weekend.
4. There will be no refunds if registration is canceled within 10 days of the weekend course.
5. There is a fee of $10 to transfer a name for a paid registration
6. There is a $37-$50 fee to change the second weekend of the two weekend program.
7. There will be no refunds for students who exhibit unacceptable behavior and are removed dismissed from classes.

Are Meals and Lodging included in the cost?
Yes, meals and lodging are included in the registration fees.

Where will the class be conducted?
The Sojourner Douglass College Weekend Course is always held at hotel and conference center near the local airport.  Please note: classes are not held at the Downtown Baltimore Campus of Sojourner-Douglass College.

What are the Transportation options in Maryland?
If you are traveling by Metro, MARC, Amtrak or airplane you must arrive at Baltimore Washington International (BWI) Airport.  There will be a hotel van that will pick -up students and take them to the hotel. All return transportation should be booked after 6 pm on the Sunday after the end of course. Early departures will not be permitted and will jeopardize your ability to complete the program and earn the credit hours.

If traveling by Light Rail from Baltimore please arrive at the Linthicum North Light Rail station. There will be a hotel van that will pick up students from the Linthicum North Light Rail station and take them to the hotel.
If traveling by Amtrak, Metro or MARC wait outside the BWI Thurgood Amtrak entrance.

If traveling by airplane, please book your flight arriving at Baltimore Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport.  Please send your airline confirmation information to info@weekendprogram.org  The hotel van will pick-up from the ground transportation area outside Southwest airlines A3.  If you are arriving by any other airline other than Southwest, please walk to the Southwest ground transportation area.  

Advance reservations are required for hotel van pick-up.  Reservations must be made at least 10 days prior to the weekend course.  To reserve your pick up time email info@weekendprogram.org with your name, date, time of pick up and location of pick up (BWI Amtrak, BWI ground transportation or North Linthicum Light Rail).


What are the transportation options in Chicago, Illinois?
Students can drive to the course.  There is plenty of free parking on site.
The conference center will pick up students who fly into O'Hara International Airport and Midway Airport.
A shuttle will also pick up students who arrive by subway through the rail system.

What time should I book my flight or train on the last day of the course?
All return transportation should be booked after 7pm.

Maryland courses- transit time from the conference center to the airport and train station is 10 minutes.

Illinois courses-transit time from the conference center to the airport is between 10 minutes (O’Hare International Airport) to 40 minutes (Midway International Airport).

 
Must I complete Homework?
To successfully complete the weekend course homework is required. Your homework is due 7 days prior to the weekend course.  The only method your assignments are accepted is by email homework@weekendprogram.org   Please use Microsoft Word or PDF format to complete your homework. Do not send journal and paper in separate emails. In the title of Email list course name and date. No homework will be accepted at check in. Please read and follow the homework guidelines.  There are 2 parts to the homework and they both must be satisfactorily completed. Your certificate, agency verification form and credits will not be given until your homework is satisfactorily completed.

Will I have a Roommate?
All students will have a roommate when attending the weekend course or the TOEFL review. You may request a specific roommate.  Please indicate roommate preference on your online registration form.  All efforts will be made to honor your roommate preference. For an additional fee you may request to have no roommate.

How many credits can I earn?
Successful completion of one Sojourner Douglass College Weekend Course along with required outside homework will provide 4 C.E.U’s or 40 hours.  Successful completion of the Two Weekend Program will provide 6 credits or 72 hours. Successful completion of the Sojourner Douglass College TOEFL Review Course along with outside homework will provide 3 credits or 36 hours. Successful completion of the TOEFL Review course without the homework will provide 3 CEU's or 30 hours.  Successful completion of the CPR and First Aid course can earn the student up to 1 credit or 12 hours. Successful completion of the Water Safety course provides 6 classroom hours or .5 credits.

What is a CEU? Is it the same as a credit?
A CEU is a continuing education unit and is not the same as a credit.
1 CEU= 10 hours
1 credit=12 hours

Is Sojourner Douglass an accredited College?
Sojourner Douglass College is accredited by Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools also licensed and approved by the Maryland Higher Education Commission. 


What if I register late for the weekend course, and I don’t have enough time to do my homework?
If you register within 3 weeks of the course you can request two (2) additional weeks to complete your homework.  Your letter of completion will be held and mailed to you after you complete the course and homework is submitted and completed satisfactorily

What is given as proof of completion for the course?
A letter of completion will be given at the conclusion of the weekend course if homework is satisfactorily completed and you attended all assigned classes throughout the weekend.

Can I take more than one weekend course? If I take more than one weekend course, what do I do for homework?
Yes, you can take more than one weekend course.  The homework changes slightly.  The homework requirements for the second weekend course are listed on the Homework Guides document.

Can I use the certificate I receive for a national certification process?
No, the certificate you earn with the Weekend Program is not a part of any professional certification process.

Do you have other courses that an international student can complete?  Yes, Sojourner Douglass College offers a TOEFL review course twice per year, a Water Safety Course once a year and a CPR & First Aid class three times per year along with numerous online courses and course at the main campus.
